911 ghost dial

My iPhone 11 has dialed emergency 911 twice while I was driving down the road and not touching the device at all. This last time I was actually talking via hands-free it disconnected my call and continue to call emergency services. Anyone else had this trouble?

Hey BELZAN,

Great details. If we understand correctly, it is no longer auto-dialing emergency services, but your emergency contacts are being texted. This also seems to happen in the same spot, while traveling. Is that correct? If so, if you haven't already, restart your iPhone to see if that helps with fresh connections, etc.: Restart your iPhone

Then, it's also a good idea to test without your case and with a different USB cable. This can help rule out both as being the possible culprit. An update was also recently released. The current version is 13.6.1. If that isn't what you show in Settings > General > About, we encourage you to back up your iPhone, then update the software. Just in case, here's how: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Let us know how that goes.

Cheers!

Hi BELZAN,

It looks like no one has responded to your question. Here are a couple things that might help others answer your question:

  1. Are you connected to your car stereo using Bluetooth or a USB cable, and does your car support CarPlay?
  2. Do you use a case with your iPhone that could be pressing the buttons to activate SOS mode: Use Emergency SOS on your iPhone

My phone is connected with a cord to my Ford fusion. And it is also connected to Apple play Since I’m driving and I’m not touching the phone I did not press side buttons. I also did not hit any bumps or make any abrupt movements. My phone is in a case. My phone set solid in its spot. It now continues to text my emergency contacts every time I pass that spot. It does not proceed to call 911 again though... fortunately. I’ve had to remove my emergency contacts. I had all the same settings on my older iPhone and did not have this issue.
