I recently just got a brand new iPhone XS and noticed straight away that whenever audio is playing there’s a static/crackling sound in the background.
Just wandering if this is a serious issue or something that can easily be solved.

Hmm, it shouldn't do that. See these links:
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker
Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference
If no help, take it back to where you got it and have them check it.
