Texting gibberish

Texting gibberish

My phone is possessed. When using the keyboard to type a text message, email, or even this question (it literally just happened in this very sentence), at random moments a demon takes over and finished out my line with gibberish, as if my phone is speaking in tongues. Pictured here: What happened a minute ago as I tried to type a one-word text message: “Done.” As I tapped the D, the cursor ran ahead and created this insane thing. I have predictive typing turned

this is not an issue with the screen. It’s a text entry issue that’s been happening since one of the more recent iOS releases.

ALL BRAND NEW. I don't restore from a backup or migrate, save my contacts in iCloud. I tend to re-add apps and utility each time i get a new device or have to refresh the software.

Only happens in texting, but tbh I haven't done any long-form writing in the device (save text messaging and email). I don't notice it in email, just Messages.

This phone is only a month old. The last one was only 5 months old. I don't believe going to an apple store or creating an RMA is needed. There has to be some repository of this happening somewhere.

To your point - slide to text + typing at the same time, that sounds EXACTLY like it could be the culprit. I'll try toggling slide text off and see if this persists.

Thank you.

Good day chaseforfeit,

It appears that your keyboard is typing letters you haven't touched. A few suggestions we'd like to make are removing any screen protectors, cases, or accessories connected, such as headphones or charging cables. If there's any physical damage to the device, this could be related.

If you're using a 3rd party keyboard, test if this issue happens when using the built-in keyboard as the default instead. Let us know if this happens using our Calculator app as well. From there, we may need to complete more invasive steps, such as a back up in iCloud or via computer followed by a Restore as new to test the issue.

We hope this gets you on a path to resolving this.

Have a good day.

Thanks for getting back to us and clarifying.

It sounds like the more invasive steps may be required, but before those are completed, we'd like to know if you've tried them before. With the previous phones, did you set them up as brand new devices, or restore from a backup in iCloud or a computer?

Does this happen in the Calculator app, or any other app not using the keyboard? You mentioned Predictive Text, but do you have Slide to Type enabled in Settings > General > Keyboard > Slide to Type? If you're typing quickly and your fingers are sliding on the keyboard at all, the screen may interpret that as typing.

If you've already completed the troubleshooting steps we've mentioned, we recommend to Contact Apple Support or we recommend servicing the device at an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider: Apple - Find Locations

Take care!

as mentioned, and quite intentionally, it's not a screen problem. it's an issue that no one seemingly knows how to verbalize because it's quite stupid. this is the third iPhone 11 Pro that i've owned that's done it. Theres nothing on the screen. There's no case protector. it happens while typing quickly, the software somehow is interpreting the motions incorrectly and spitting out gibberish like above (taken from another thread that someone created that wasn't given the proper attention it needed - you basically said the same thing to them and weren't helpful.).
