Can I connect my old macbook pro 2011 as an external monitor with my imac 2017? I have tried and is not connecting. I have it connected with Thunderbolt cable and adapter.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

No, it only works using a 2009 thru Mid 2014 iMac as the display.
