No iPhone is waterproof, nowhere does Apple say it is.
iPhone is water resistant, not the same thing.
No iPhone is designed or meant to be submerged in water.

Any of the thousands of components within the phone could be destroyed, including speakers. Why any one would wish to torture test an expensive electronic device, I have no idea.
