I want to startup from an external disc (2019 iMac-Catalina). When I go to recovery mode and startup utility, I get the choice to require a password to change firmware but no other choices to allow external disk boot. That whole section is simply missing.

A 2019 iMac doesn't have a T2 chip, so it doesn't have those options.
Thank you so much. I had just assumed that it did and it was driving me nuts do not see the choices.
