Recipe for finding a Dragon Dictate license on macOS

I recently migrated my software to a new machine, an iMac Pro from an older MacBook Pro. In the transfer of the software i did not bring up all of my licensed software to see if all of the licenses were migrated properly. Dragon Dictate 4.0.2 was such a license.

The Nuance software key was also on the website where I purchased the software:

http://nuance.custhelp.com/app/account/overview

I was able to recover the password to that account by requesting a password reset.

Because I kept a full backup of the device, I recently had the pleasure of finding the license key sitting in

/Library/Application Support/Dragon/license.plist

file as the value of the

key "_S"

with the pattern

xxxxx-xxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx

where x is in the character set of [A-Z0-9]

iMac Pro
