When I choose the portrait mode for changing the type of lighting, the camera automatically flips/changes to a selfie mode. This does not happen on the IPhone. Is there a fix that has worked for anyone ? Thanks.

That is because iPad does NOT include portrait mode from the rear camera at all. Your iPad is doing what it was designed to do.
Portrait mode, is unique to iPhone and is not an available option on iPad.
If the iPad is doing what it was designed to do, wouldn’t Apple support know that and tell me that when troubleshooting?? The iPhone has a rear camera but is able to take pics in portrait mode without automatically flipping to selfie mode! I may be technically challenged, but I don’t understand how that can be. Thanks.
