The "update required" message to connect my iPhone to my iMac

Will this be a simple update, or a full OS version update? I have to stay with Mojave (due to some software I need for work).

Thank you!

That message means that there is a minor update to iTunes that is required in order for the phone to connect to iTunes. It has nothing to do with the Mac OS. I am still running El Capitan and I am syncing my iOS 13 devices without issue.
