Changing default maps app

I don’t like the Apple Maps app, and have deleted it from my phone. (Thanks for allowing us to do that!) I prefer to use Google Maps.

Every time I try to tap on an address in my Contacts to see a map view, it asks me to reinstall Apple Maps. It does not give me the option to select another app to use as default. I am requesting that Apple adds (or reinstates) this function.

In the meantime, is there another way to do this?

I have already tried resetting my Location&Privacy Settings, as previously recommended by an Apple staff in this community forum. It doesn’t work for me. I am using an iPhone XS.
