What is the exact message when you enter the 12 alphanumeric character serial number? And what is the response when you enter that same serial number at this link—>https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
I have done that, however it asks me for a serial number and then does not accept the serial number that I have from the phone. So I do not get to the point where I can choose an option of call back or speaking to a consultant.
