Apple TV+ freezes and I can do nothing

I set up an Apple TV+ account. It woks fine on my pc. When I try to log in via the apple TV box I get the verification code on my phone but never get a place to type it in on the TV or on the Iphone. Onlt get screen asking for the password again. I tried putting in the password with the verification coded added. The I get the screen that says I already have an apple TV+ account. From there the Apple TV freezes and I can do nothing until I turn it off and restart with the same results.

if you have an older model ATV, the code is entered onto the end of the password as one entry. Example: “password123456” then click submit

email- submit
password123456- submit
