If you go to Settings>General>iphone storage you can see a bit more info about whats taking up so much space and what can be deleted to free up space, and some other suggestions to free up space like for instance; deleted photos in your "recently deleted" album, or turning on icloud photo to automatically upload photos to.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm. Another way I can think of, when I had my old SE phone (before it got rereleased lol) I used to plug it into my computer, back it up just in case, and then transfer literally everything off of it. Pictures. Audio. Everything I could find within it, and save it to a folder on my desktop. So then it was basically wiped clean and I technically didn’t lose anything, and I started all over again every time I was low on storage.

it was tedious and time consuming but in the end I’d have free space for about a month or two. And can always go into my laptop to look at all the old memories and whatnot.
