how do you get your device out of recovery mode?

You don't.

iOS Recovery mode means something temporarily bad happened with either the iOS device hardware or software.

What iPad model/kind do you own and what iOS/iPadOS version is it currently running?

You have no choice but to put your iPad into recovery mode while connected to a Mac or Windows PC running the latest version of iTunes for Mac or Windows PC and restore your iPad.

If you have never backed up the data from this iPad, unfortunately, you will lose everything in the restore process.


Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support


If this has happened to a very old iPad model ( 8 or 9-years old ) I have some other different advice and bad news for you.
