Is it okay to delete backups from old phones?

I just got a new phone and transferred all my data over from my old phone. I was looking through my iCloud storage and it says that my storage is full, but about 60% of the storage is taken up by backups from my old phone. So is it okay to delete those backups now that I have a new phone and all of my data is transferred over?

iCloud backup and storage I recently swapped out my old iPhone for a new iPhone and now my new phone will not backup. My iCloud storage is close to full because of my old backups. If I delete the old backup on my new phone to free up space, will it delete everything? Or will it be ok cause it’s on my new phone.

If the data is on your new phone you can delete the backup of the old phone.
