After updating my Mac I can't find "documents" when opening Finder. Where can I find my files?😅

cannot find where my files went on imac 27' I have an extensive filing system for my documents. I find that I must have misfiled many of my files into wrong folders under wrong headings. When I use the search feature under "Finder" app, files are listed but it does not show WHERE they have been put. Under which category or folder? Is there a way to track them back to where they are now? Or do I have to move them all out onto the desktop and start over?

"Documents" Folder disappeared. Finder can no longer locate my Documents folder. Everything works normally, but I can't find any of my saved files. I did find them on my iCloud web site, but I can't find them on my computer ? I checked Finder preferences and iCloud preferences. I do back-up Documents Folder to iCloud and I still have plenty of storage room. I have relaunched the Finder several times and rebooted several times. I had the H/W checked out by my local repair shop and everything is running correctly. What else do I need to do ? I can get to various sub-directories from alias, but I can't go to Documents. If I search for it, all the links take me to my iCloud drive. Do I need to disconnect the iCloud drive ? Mac OS 11.5.1

Launch Finder
Hold Command and Comma, simultaneously on your keyboard to launch Finder Preferences
At the top of this Finder Preferences popup window, select the third icon: Sidebar
In the list under Favorites, select "Documents" (put a tick mark).
Close Finder Preferences.

Do you now see the Documents folder?
