Unfortunately, if you are using the iPad (7th generation), it is not compatible with Apple Pencil (2nd generation).

Apple Pencil compatibility - Apple Support


You can maybe sell this one on a third party website / store and purchase Apple Pencil (1st generation).

OR Trade in your iPad for a iPad Pro.
