Sent mails do not appear in "Sent messages" folder of my MacBook

For two days any mail that I have sent is no longer saved in the "Sent messages" folder.

I checked the settings and it sais that sent messages shall be saved in the "Sent messages" folder, thus, everything should be okay.

You might check with your mail provider. If you access the mail via a web interface can you see the sent mail? Have you tried rebuilding that mailbox? How about synchronizing it? (Both commands are in the Mailbox menu.)

Many thanks for the quick reply. I am using apple (me.com) as provider. The problem is the same on all my devices, iphone, Macbook and web interface on a windows pc. I have not yet tried rebuilding the mailbox, but will try now.
