ipad pro gen 4 has a different lightning plug then all other lightning plugs, is there an adapter so I can use all my lightning cords or do I now have to buy all new cords?

Your forth generation iPad Pro has USB-C connector - not Lightning.

USB-C is an entirely different interface - and yes, you’ll potentially need to replace some cables to those appropriate for the device to which you intend to connect your iPad.

This is called progress. Had you chosen a lower specification iPad, you would still have a Lightning connection.

The difference isn’t just the style of the physical connector; its an entirely different interface. The Industry Standard USB-C interface has far more capabilities than Apple Proprietary Lightning interface.

Your 2020 iPad Pro will have been supplied with an 18W Power Adapter (featuring a USB-C connection) and a USB-C to USB-C cable with which to charge your iPad.

If you have a recent Mac or PC, it too may already have a USB-C port - in which case you already have the correct cable with which to connect your iPad Pro to your PC/Mac should you need to do so.

If your computer has an older USB Type-A connection, then yes, you will potentially need to invest in a USB3 Type-A to USB-C cable. When compared with the cost of your iPad, the cost of an appropriate cable to connect an older computer is trivial.
