Which Folder Are Files In?
When using the Mac Finder, with Documents selected, I get a list of folder and files that are in Documents. How do I see which folder a particular file is in?
I am on an iMac using Mojave.

In Finder's View menu, select Show Path Bar. Then when you click on a file, its path, including enclosing folder will appear at the bottom of the Finder window.
Another approach is View menu : Customize Toolbar… and then drag/drop the Path tool onto an open Finder window's toolbar. Then, when you want to see the enclosing folder of a selected file, click that Path tool, and the top menu item is the current folder.
If you were performing a Spotlight search for a filename, you would press the ⌘-key to see its path and enclosing folder, or you could press Return and a Finder window would open with that file selected.

If you're not used to the Mac GUI, then in the Finder go to the View Menu → Show Path Bar which should then show you a breadcrumb trail of which folder you are in and where it is within your Mac at the bottom of any Finder window. Alternatively, click on the name of the folder (top and middle of folder window) you are in whilst holding down the Command key and a drop down menu will appear showing the path
Thanks. I now can see which folder a particular file is in. Although I've been a Mac user for a number of years, I was used to the way Windows presented folder locations so I was not looking at the bottom of the screen.
Thanks again.
Snap. Although I like your Customize Toolbar option. I've not tried that before. I reckon you learn something new every week
You are welcome.
