new iphone and software update

Okay so broke my iphone 8 and I'm currently setting up a new one (also an 8) with at&t. They're next to eachother so that they can do the cool bluetooth sharing thing to transport all of my stuff from my old phone to my new phone. However, I have been at a standstill for the past 2 hours because the new phone was not updated to the newest software. I didn't have a choice to not update now and I'm stuck here not sure what to do because it has been loading on 'installing now' for the past 45 mins, while the other phone says 'waiting for software update' about the other phone. please help me out, thank you.

Try restarting the new phone and update the software all over again. You really have nothing to lose since you still have the old phone and you can start the whole process all over again.

We don’t know what “it” means.
We don’t know what “the other phone” means.
You said “broke my iPhone 8”.
- Are you somehow using this broken iPhone in the above scenario?
- If so, how “broken” is it?
- What iOS version is it using?
What iOS version is the new iPhone using?
