which sw for lifecam vx-3000?

Hello: w10p bootcamped on MBpro mid 2015 retina (mojave when in OS X). We have an old MS lifecam VX-3000. When plugged into the MB in w10, windows says the sw is not installed. However, the latest sw for this cam on windows site is v.3.2 for w7, w/msg that later v. of windows don't "require" the sw. But does that msg apply only to native intel-type mobos? Am I spozed to install this w7 sw, just to see if it works (and of course, what might be the unforeseen consequences to the MB if it doesn't) ? (to ans. poss ques -- yes, MB internal cam wks fine in w10. But I leave the MB lid closed & use big monitor (as if this MB was a tower). I would like to have the option to just plug in the lifecam & not lift the lid & move the MB.
