AirPods Pro Firmware 2D57 ruins ANC even worse than 2B588/2D15.
So, I am at my wits end, I have already sold every other Apple product due to disrespectful GMs refusing to admit product defects and/or bugs and an iPhone XS Max that would die after 4 hours when iOS 13.4.1 was installed. 13 years loyal customer and I switched to Samsung.
Kept my AirPod Pros. They were on 2D15 which were not much better than the 2B588 F/W that ruined the original ANC power of 2B584/launch firmware. I stupidly used my gf's iPad to update the AirPods to 2D57 because many YouTube videos and articles said that it IMPROVED the ANC.
I did a test before and after. The test was NOT necessary. It was so obvious. The ANC literally makes no difference between on and Off mode besides maybe a 2% reduction in volume. It filters literally no white noise, fan noises, TVs, voices, or even my own voice now. The AirPods are entirely ruined with this update. I used this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co7KgV2edvI) to test the ANC before on 2D15 and it blocked out about 75% of the sound. Now it blocks out maybe 2-5%. LOL. Absolutely insane!
They are under AppleCare+ so I have two options:
Ask them to be swapped out even though I work every weekday during a global pandemic only to likely be told I am a "liar" and that people on these communities are also lying and it's a giant "echo chamber" of lies (actual quote from GM of Apple store in Seoul).
Or I can finally sell these, buy some Buds Live and move on from Apple after a decade and a half.
If the product is now this horrible with ANC, I may as well cut my losses, sell them for $175 or so, and buy something better. I'm tired of this frustration and I am tired of Apple remaining silent (not even releasing a change log for a F/W which is NOT THEIR POLICY NORMALLY) and acting like they are infallible and that the customers are the problems (or the customers are the "bugs").
So, did 2D57 ruin the Pros and this is the new "normal"? Or did somehow the F/W update cause a HARDWARE issue or an issue that may be in F/W but requires a swap out because there is no way to "restore" AirPods F/W or downgrade (minus the normal reset option with the back button).
Ignore the angst. It's just $5000+ worth of hardware gone to waste and now even the AirPods which were still salvageable also turned to worthless $20 devices during COVID and being degraded by Apple GM like I am an animal that has me in this mood 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
