Apple Watch battery drain during exercise

My series 5 watch increasingly dies whilst running or doing a workout. It’ll be 100% charged and then 4 miles into a run it will tell me it has 10% battery left and shuts down. Same happens if I’m working out.

Then when I put it on the charger it often jumps up to about 70% battery in a matter of minutes.

Software is up to date.

Any ideas?
