Can’t get into our new MacBook Pro

My son set up a Computer Account password

when he was prompted during initial

setup. That password does not unlock the computer when it’s powered up. For some reason, the password is required for TouchID (which he also set up). Which password is it then that unlocks the laptop? That’s the one he knows, and it’s not working.

Filevault password is first to unlock—

When you have an encrypted boot volume you receive a log-in screen before the main OS boots, you have to authenticate that in order for the encryption key for the boot volume to be released.

passwords are case sensitive

and yes you have to manually unlock the Filevault before you can use touchID
