Spam texts from gmail

Contact your cellular carrier.

They can block text messages that originate from email at their gateway.

If you happen to use AT&T as your carrier, call customer service and ask the representative who answers to look up article 44389 in their system. It explains what they need to do.

Text messages come from mobile phones not Gmail.

Gmail accounts send out emails not texts.

What exactly are you getting? Can you show one without giving away too much information?

Do the messages come addressed to your phone number or to your Apple ID email address? If it is to your email address they are iMessages, and don’t go through your carrier.

Good question. I will pay more attention next time. I think they are sent to my phone number. It’s usually a group text message that’s sent to multiple phone numbers. No, I do not recognize the other numbers. They are not people I know.

I just spoke to Verizon. They cannot block texts from email accounts like AT&T. 😞

I’m having the same issue. I block the gmail account and I get another text from a different gmail account. Apple and Google need to find a way to stop this.

Unfortunately, I do not have a screenshot. I immediately block and delete the message. It’s happening more frequently so that’s when I decided to research. I’m going to contact Verizon to see if they can block text messages from email. Thank you.
