iCloud photos

Hi all,

I am new to iCloud and I am trying to upload a load of photos to my iCloud. I have managed to organise all my photos into different albums/folders etc and can access from all my devices which is great. However, all these photos also now exist in the 'recents' or camera roll which is really annoying as there are literally tens of thousands of photos on the camera roll. These are all mixed in with my photos that I take with my iPhone ordered by as and when they were taken or uploaded. My plan was to work through the photos I take on my iPhone periodically and add them to the relevant album and then clear the recents folder to keep it at a manageable amount of photos. I have tried deleting the photos from recents but then it would seem the same photo in the albums also get deleted so you are forced to leave them in recents.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I might get around this?
