installing new printer

I use OS x Yosemite on a MacBook Air ( c 6 years old). No new updates awaiting.

I have bought a new wireless printer - Canon TS 5350.

I cannot install the printer - I have downloaded the software but it says 'this program is not supported by the operating system.' and I can go no further

Please can you help - or have I bought a useless printer or do I need a new computer........
