I can't use time machine to backup my machine

While using my mac and doing my backup on my external hard drive using time machine the calculation of the amount of data just never stops going up. My MacBook has 500gb memory and when I use time machine it counts over 2 TB before telling me the backup can't be done.

My external HD is SSD of 2 TB I recently formatted it to Mac OS extended (Journaled) GUID partition map.

iMac 27″, OS X 10.11
