iPhone 8 random shutdown trouble restarting

iPhone 8 keeps shutting down randomly. It will restart but then shut down again continually until it gets plugged into a charging cord then restarts fine. After restarting the battery may read almost dead or 90+%. It’s not shutting down because the battery is dead but is acting like it. Sometimes while charging it will stay at like 45% for an hour or more and won’t appear to charge more than that until another shut down/restart and then it may read 100%. So frustrating

If you open the Settings app > Battery > Battery Health screen, what do you see next to "Maximum Capacity"? Also, under the section labeled "Peak Performance", do you see any mention of the unexpected shutdowns?
