Check which applications are consuming high CPU and memory using Activity Monitor.

To find Activity Monitor, go to Finder > Applications > Utilities > and then double-click Activity Monitor.app

Click on CPU and Memory tab to view the processes consuming high CPU and memory. If it is one of MacOs applications like Spotlight, Siri or Photos app, then let them re-index your files on your hard-disk.
