iPhone + Malicious link

Dear community,

this morning my son (4yr) was watching a movie on my iPhone when a text message came in. He opened the message and clicked on the link. When he told me the movie stopped I saw what happened. He clicked on the link in a phishing text message from a bank in the Netherlands. It opened a website that looked liked the website from this bank.

When my son gave me my phone back I saw a pop-up message that he clicked away so I couldn't read what it said. Is it possible that this link also installed some spyware/malicious software on my iPhone?

iOS / iPadOS devices cannot be hacked or infected with Virus / Malware / Spyware by merely clicking on a link in Safari, unless you have intentionally downloaded spurious softwares or unauthorised apps directly from internet and installed on your device or/and have Jail Broken.

Be careful when sharing the device's sensitive and valuable informations with friends and family members.

Thumb Rules:

  1. Enable Guided Access before handing over an iPhone to kids
  2. Don't share Apple IDs
  3. Don't Jail Break
  4. Don't share sensitive informations pertaining to your device and payment methods
  5. Beware of Phishing
