Since updating to 10.4.9 yesterday, certain image file types that were working fine on 10.4.8 and every previous version of FCPX, suddenly will not import on 10.4.9. It's occurring with jpg and pngs.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Had the same issue now on 10.15 - I figured out the way to import them though.
Just remove any special characters from the filename - such as _ or -
Worked for me.
Had an issue where 10.4.10 would import some pngs and not others. On a whim, I tried duplicating the pngs that would not import and in they went!
Does FCP have Full Disk Access in Privacy System Preferences.

Ok, so I got the issue to go away by doing a completely clean wipe of FCPX. I mean not just deleting the app, but using Clean My Mac to wipe everything, and be sure to also get rid of the library files, and any plist files in the Movies/Final Cut Pro folder.
Then do a restart, clean PRAM, and restart and install again.
It is definitely tied to old deprecated files being broken. And not being removed when deleting the app. Hope this helps!
Also I'm still experiencing crashes on FCPX 10.4.9 on starting up FCPX, the only way I've found a workaround the crash is as soon as the app window opens, start clicking on the event file library, and it should not crash.
Apple really need to fix this. It's very annoying.
Ok, I recreated all the jpgs and pngs in Photoshop that would make the import dialogue box
freeze. I gave them new names and saved them in the same folder as I used before. I went back to FCPX 10.4.9 to import
them. It imported correctly and appears to be working by placing them in a timeline.
Some people have problems but most don’t. While there appear to be some reproducible bugs in 10.4.9, importing images doesn’t seem to be one of them. You don’t mention what steps you have taken to troubleshoot, so do the usual: delete preferences; reinstall the application; run Etrecheck and post its full report report here. Almost certainly there is a conflict with something else.
My solution so far has been updating the images by opening them on Ps2020 and quickly exporting them again.
Can you upload some of these images somewhere that they can be accessed? Can you test a new admin user without running any other applications?
Try running the file through a graphics application and resaving it.
Did you try renaming the file?
Same applies.
The png images produced by 2020 versions of PS or Illustrator work. Old assets still don't.
I even tried to manually insert the image inside the 'original media' folder and it still does not appear in the fcp library.
They have't addressed the issue. Also, you really don't have to answer if you have no experience with the issue raised. Update and reboot answers are not what people look for.
Are these images that did work in 4.8 and don’t in 4.9? Would it be possible to upload one somewhere?
Please tell us exactly what happens. Does it not import? Does it give an error message?
Does the image appear black or corrupted?
I hear you Joe. Did you try to recreate the graphics that won't import and give them new names? Once I did this, I was able to import everything normally again. Good luck!
What is the image showing? Where are the files stored? How are you importing? What do you see in the import window? Screenshots are normally PNGs. They save to the desktop. I'm not see a problem dragging a screenshot from the desktop into an FCP event.
