You should perform a clean install of macOS by first erasing the whole physical drive before installing macOS. Here is what the previous owner should have done before selling the Mac:

Make sure to backup any personal data before performing the clean install (or erasing the drive).

I actually had to call the previous owner for the password to admin. Thank you. I did follow the erase procedure. I purchased a copy of Lion OS X because I need to run an older version of pro tools 9 that is not supported by the newer systems. Thank you again for the help. If you have any comments, I welcome them because I am new to Mac
