My iPad won’t load past the logo. I don’t have a Mac computer it’s been like this for a week. What should I do?

If iPad isn’t responding, do one of the following:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If your iPad still doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen.

Whilst you may need access to a computer, it doesn’t need to be a Mac; a PC is just as usable. Likewise, the computer doesn’t have to be your own. Provided that the system and installed software requirements are met, a computer that belongs to a helpful friend or family member will do just as well. Alternatively, the staff at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store will be delighted to assist.
