I received a message from Apple that said my iCloud account may have been compromised.

I received a message from Apple that said my icloud account may have been compromised. When I called the number provided, the person hung up on me.

Apple doesn't make unsolicited phone calls or send texts for that. If there was a problem you would be notified when attempting to log in, including when logging into this forum. Also see: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
