Apple Music is replacing explicit versions of songs I have in iTunes with clean versions

I have downloaded mp3s of songs that are now being replaced on my iPhone with the clean version of the songs (specifically, the album APOLLO by the artist Fireboy DML). The file plays the explicit version on iTunes on my computer, but when it is uploaded to my iPhone, it plays the clean version on my phone.

I have made sure my settings on my phone are set to allowed explicit material as outlined here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250127463?answerId=250237778022#250237778022

This is extremely frustrating, especially if it's been done to other explicit songs that I have and I just haven't found out yet.

Please advise.

Hi brandollars,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We see that you are experiencing an issue with having your explicit music in Apple Music replaced with clean versions. We want to help! Do you have parental controls set on your device? You can check those settings by looking at the steps in this article about how to Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch touch.

Are you able to download an explicit song? Try opening an explicit song in iTunes Store, and agree to play explicit content. You should then be able to listen explicit songs in Apple Music.

We hope that helps. Reach back out with any questions.

Enjoy your day!

Hi brandollars,

Thank you for reaching back out to Apple Support Communities.

Do you have a computer that you listen to Apple Music on as well? If so, check the settings there by following this article that talks about how to Use Restrictions in iTunes on your PC - Apple Support.

Make sure that they are turned off there and then test that song on the PC. Then test again on your iPhone to see if the change applied there as well.

If you need further assistance with this after following those steps, you can Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support.

Be Well.

Hi, as I said in my original inquiry, I already have my settings to allow explicit material. I am able to listen to the explicit album on Apple Music.

However, while I have an mp3 that plays as explicit on my computer library, the library on my phone plays it as the clean version. The Music app has sync'd with the wrong version of the song.

I have attached a photo showing that Music has sync'd my library to some portions of the explicit album and some portions of the clean album.

Do you see how on the explicit version of the album, it is giving me the option to "add" certain songs while others are already on my cloud? And then in the other version of the album, it's the exact opposite tracks?

This is a big issue if it's happening to more than just this one album, and I would have no way of knowing what other versions of songs the Music app has replaced my own mp3s with.

Please advise.
