How to change your Apple ID, then get all the information onto my computer with the new Apple ID. My husband will be keeping the old Apple ID, as we are currently on the same Apple ID.

How do I change my Apple ID on my MacBook to my new Apple ID with out loosing all the info. . My husband will be keeping the old Apple ID that is currently being used on the computer. We are currently on the same Apple ID and its making me nuts.

Thank you so much. I think I got to that point yesterday and then got scared to go forward, so I appreciate your support getting me through this.

I am backed up to the cloud. Do you think a back up on an external hard drive is necessary also?

When changing to the new ID, there may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed. See Winston Churchill's response in the below discussion. If possible, also set up Family Sharing between the IDs to keep access to your apps/purchases.
