Debit card not supported- any way to use apple pay?

Can I connect Apple Pay directly to my bank account? The bank doesn't support Apple Pay with its debit card and I don't have a credit card. Surely I can just connect it to my account - how?

You need a card from this list - Apple Pay participating banks - Apple Support

Yes, I know that. My bank is not on that list. But is there a way to set it up to just take funds from my bank account? Thank you.
