An iPhone cannot get malware unless you jailbreak it. Period.

A Mac can if you download stuff from sketchy websites and then approve installing it, but a Mac’s built in security will prevent most forms of malware from infecting your computer, as long as you update Mac OS whenever you are prompted to. Any time you download anything Mac OS will warn you of any risks it detects, as long as you always respect the warnings your Mac will be safe from malware.

But neither is at risk from reputable apps such as pinterest.

It is very hard, but still possible, for a virus or malware to attack an Apple product because Apple devices have built in security procedures, preventing an attack. But it is still possible on both devices. It is more likely to get an attack on a Mac, but not as likley as a Windows PC.

Ah, I misread your post. Yes, Macs are much safer than Windows without an antivirus (or even with).
