Scam call about iCloud account being compromised

Just got a call from a 408 area code claiming to be Apple Support and that my iCloud account had some illegal activity. My search of the internet said to not answer the call (which I did and voice mail picked up the call) and report it to Apple Support. Other users have seen calls from different area codes. This one came from the area code of Cuppertino area. the number was 408-***-****. I am reporting this just in case it is someone spoofing Apple Support real phone numbers. The call came to my land line and not my iPhone. I have no way on the Verizon copper phone service to block these calls.

Thanks
