The MacBook Air (MBA) does not come with USB cables. You will have to purchase one separately.
To backup your iPhone to the MBA, you will need to connect it with the cable. Wi-Fi backup is not possible. Only Wi-Fi sync is.

Looks like you have a MacBook Air 2018/19/20. They come with only two USB-C ports. The best way is to use icloud. Otherwise you will have to buy a USB-A to USB-C adapter in order to connect an iphone to a MBA.
