I'm migrating data from old MacBook Air to new one and ran out of room for migration on new one. I don't need all the files from the old one on the new one but it's not letting me pick and choose. What do I do?
You can delete unused files from the old one, or choose among broad categories of items to transfer.
Refer to How to move your content to a new Mac. Click the "reveal triangle" adjacent to individual User Accounts to expand their contents.

Ok. I suppose you'll have to delete unused files from the old one first. The following may be helpful: How to free up storage space on your Mac - Apple Support. Delete old photos, Mail attachments, etc and don't forget to empty the Trash in each one of those programs as well as the Finder's Trash.
This is all I see....nowhere to select individual folders or files.
Select the account, provide a password, then click Continue.
That’s what I keep doing but it just immediately starts migrating everything.
