Missing contacts

My iPad contacts are all in place. On my iPhone there is only a percentage of them and there is no way to get all the contacts on my phone, although they are present on my iPad. iCloud also is missing the extra contacts. I have synced my iCloud account and reset my iPhone to no avail. To make things even worse, my favourite contacts on the iPhone only appear like numbers with no name. The same numbers appear on the iPad properly as contacts. Please help me as I have tried everything.
