x86 CPU CATERR detected

Hello,

now its the 6th time i get the following kernel panic message.

Im using my MacBook Pro Late 2019 13" only with official Software from the App-Store and some other official Software providers like Microsoft.

If i don't use my Mac, i just lock it and let it running a few hours or even a few days. Multiple times a kernel-panic occurred and my mac is shutted down. Before it shuts down completely the fan is spinning on high level.

This is very frustrating. I also had an chat with Apple-Support here in Germany, they told me i had to reinstall MacOS etc. I followed all advises they had without success.

Today, about an hour ago it's the 6th time this Kernel Panic came up for me.

Before this i had the Kernel-Panic "bad magic" multiples times before. (See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250826263)

I was told by many friends that MacOS and the devices running it are rock solid. Im very frustrated about the quality of this devices.

What is the root-cause of this Kernel-Panic? Why is my Machine not stable so im afraid letting it running multiple hours at night? I lost trust in this hardware, so i will never let it copy files again over night or something else which is critical for me.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Im running latest available MacOS 10.15.6

My Hardware is:

  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
  • 2,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
  • 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
  • 512GB SSD

Please post the full panic report. Please use the Additional Text button to embed it in your post. In the toolbar below in the message editor, you want to click on the third button from the right (ignoring the circled ? On the far right.)

Dealing with Kernel Panics

Disconnect any third-party peripherals including any USB hubs. How to use safe mode on your Mac, Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support then boot the computer into Safe Mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support and Playing Safe- what does Safe mode do? See Diagnosing problems- crash, freeze, panic, or spinning beach ball?, Don’t Panic! Kernel panics are indicative of possible hardware failure, so you should Check your Mac with hardware diagnostics or AHT. Kernel panic logs are found in: /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ folder.

If you have no success figuring what is happening then you may need to examine the software you have running when the panics occur. Be sure it’s all current. If you must to resolve the problem erase the disk and reinstall macOS. Follow this outline to reset the computer to the factory-new state: Factory reset of your Mac - Apple Support.

Boot Into Safe Mode

  1. If your Mac isn’t already shut down, then shut it down and wait at least 30 seconds before rebooting.
  2. Immediately, at or before the chime, press and hold down the SHIFT key.
  3. Release the key after the Apple logo and progress bar appear.
  4. Safe mode startup is much slower than normal startup, so be patient.
  5. When the Login Screen appears enter your admin password. If you use automatic login, then this means you are in safe mode.

Thank you for your answer.

I already tried many things you mentioned. Also i tried working only with the MacBook. Not even a Monitor or my Apple-Keyboard connected. This issue happens also.

I reinstalled MacOS und started up from scratch some time ago when i saw this error in the past, it did not help.

Because i need to work with this machine daily i cannot do such things often.

I checked the full report and it seems this is exactly the same issue as i linked. "Bad Magic" in iBridge.

Is it an hardware problem with the T2-Chip as mentioned in the Bad-Magic Thread?

Well, the report you posted isn't a kernel panic but a Crash Report. Don't have the tools to interpret those. All Greek to me!

The Bridge, to which you refer, is the Bridge OS that runs the Touch Bar. A T2 chip Mac may not be able to install macOS until the Secure Boot level is disabled. This is done from the Recovery Volume using the Secure Boot tool from the Utilities menu in the screen's menubar.
