Please Help!!! I accidentally exported hundreds of pics to my desktop!!

I exported hundreds of pics from Photos on my 2014 MacBook Air to the desktop. I thought a folder would be created and they would go into the folder. Stupid me! Instead they are all over the desktop. I would appreciate so much if someone could explain step by step how to get them off my desktop! I'm not an idiot but not as computer literate as I could be. So a detailed explanation would be most appreciated. I'm using OS Catalina Version 10.15.6.

Choose Desktop from the Finder's Go menu, create a new folder, press the Command and A keys, Command-click the folder and anything else you don't want to move, and drag any still-selected item there.

Thanks for the help. I did as you instructed but instead of creating a new folder I clicked Command A in Finder's Desktop and then Command-clicked the folders and documents I wanted to keep.
