SD cards Error 36

I have at least 6 brand new SD cards that work perfect in my camera and on my MacBook Pro (2011) but won’t work in my iMac (2016). I get an error code 36 when trying to move files.

I’ve tried reformatting the cards and it hasn’t changed anything. The cards aren’t bad. It has only happened with cards I’ve bought this year. Cards I already own work perfect in the iMac, no problems.

I’ve bought new cards to test if it would change anything and they still all have this error code 36.

my iMac is running 10.14.6

my MacBook is very outdated.

Any help on how to fix this? Thanks!

Weird that you can see them with the old Mac, but not on the new one.

What brand and size are the new SD cards?

Using your MacBook Pro, check "Get Info" on both a new and old SD card, to see if the format is the same.

Is that a -36?

Well, in pure Apple File System talk... -36 ioErr I/O error (bummers)

Not very helpful, but generally means a Drive quit being Readable or Writable since starting the operation..

Yeah' that does sound like a format issue.

Hmm... I would try formatting one of the new (empty) cards in your camera and take a few photos, then check to see if it works in the iMac.
