Why did Apple create a Trailers app for the Apple TV?

On my 3rd generation apple TV, it is simple to browse movies and watch a trailer before purchasing. With my new apple TV 4k, I have to download a Trailer application browse the movies, watch the trailers for things that I am potentially interested in watching, then go back to the Movies application, find the movie and then rent or purchase. It's infuriating. Especially when I have in my possession an older but functional device that seems to be easier to use than the new one for which I shelled out $200 because I could no longer get HBO on the old one.

Why would apple make things inefficient, tedious and asinine? Do they have contempt for us? These are the types of things that **** off the consumer and then before you know it, Apple will be hated as much as the cable companies.

I use the Trailers app for trailers of upcoming movies that have no listing in the Movies app or TV app yet. Titles that aren’t available yet (example). Get a bit agog for something in the upcoming season, either for home viewing or a cinema visit.

I think you are confused.

The trailers App is entirely optional.

In the Movies app you select a Movie, one of the icons next to buy purchase or rent is “Preview” that’s the trailer. You can watch it there at any point.

in the TV App, you can scroll a bit further down in the specific movie’s details page and there’s a “Trailers” section.

Use the YouTube App to View These:

There is no direct Trailers app. But, to suit your needs to use an app, look for the trailers on YouTube, using the YouTube app found directly from the AppleTV itself.

The Trailers app is not exclusive to AppleTV or AppleTV+. It has been around for years.
