If you are using an iPhone that has Face ID, you cannot display the percentage rather than the battery icon. But you can see your battery percentage in a few different ways.

  1. from the lock screen
  2. by dragging downward by the battery icon on your home screen (control center)
  3. swipe right on your home screen and view your widgets. If battery is not one of them, you can add it by scrolling to the bottom, selecting 'edit' and adding the Battery widget
