Question:

Question: My AirPods will not 'play a sound' when I attempt to locate them from 'Find my'.

The AirPods are connected and sitting 3 feet away from my device and the AirPods Case. But they will not 'play a sound' when attempting to locate them in 'Find my'. I see this is a question that has been asked repeatedly and no one has provided an answer other than to redirect to information that does not solve the issue or provide any unknown information. I am trying to sort this out because my daughter recently misplaced one of hers and this function did not work on her AirPods either.

Hello LazyK77.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that your daughter lost one of her AirPods and there is no sound being played. We’re happy to help.

In the Find My app, does your daughter see the location of the lost AirPod? If not, then no sound will play. Please see the section titled “If your AirPods are offline” here: How to find your lost AirPods - Apple Support

Additionally, you can try the steps here: If Find My iPhone is offline or not working - Apple Support

Let us know the results.

Take care.
